Come here to buy cigs cuz they're cheaper than other places and convenient. When it's night time, it's the closest place to my house and a quick in and out. What more can i ask for?!

This place has the best selection of Ritter Sport bars I have ever seen, along with a great selection of other European candy bars. Good wine selection too.

The 1st review, while on the spot with most, is a bit misleading. The Better Food Marker, if you're local, offers pretty much anything you'd need in a pinch. No, it's just not a liquor store. It's pretty much a local version of a 7/11. Whether you need baby wipes or charcoal, they've got it. Want various fruits like bananas, oranges or limes for your Coronas - they've usually got it. Coffee and breakfast item? Sure, no problem. Oh damn, need milk to go with your porn magazines - you're all set! Any toiletries or OTC medical items you need - they've got them. Pretty much any household item you can think of ranging from rat traps to garbage bags - you're good to go. Hey, if it's local to you, this is the one-stop shop worth your time. If you're not within reasonable walking distance, then it's just another food and alcohol market that sits on every other corner. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars: they close at 10pm (booooo)

Another good grocery spot in my hood. They have really good beer selection, pretty crap wine selection, and a shit-ton of liquor. And lots of stuff in boxes and cans, but really no produce or anything like that. Don't let the name fool you, it's a liquor store but their prices and selection are a better than typical. One of the guys got beat up by the kids from Bal. He's got me and my brah's numbers. We're the neighborhood response team, aka the Revolution, aka the Lost Boys.

Location

Welcome to Better Food Market, a hidden gem nestled in the heart of San Francisco at 3149 Balboa St, San Francisco, CA 94121. This unclaimed local market is a remarkable one-stop shop that expertly combines convenience with an impressive selection of products, making it a staple for neighborhood residents.

From the moment you step inside, you're greeted by a variety of offerings that go beyond your typical liquor store. Better Food Market embraces its community needs with a selection that includes not only spirits but also everyday essentials, from baby wipes to charcoal, and even basic pantry items like milk and breakfast foods. It’s the kind of place that assures you’ll find what you need in a pinch.

  • Impressive Snack Selection: If you're a lover of sweet treats, you'll appreciate the standout options at this market. Reviews from customers highlight an extensive range of Ritter Sport bars and various European candies that can satisfy any sweet tooth.
  • Diverse Beverage Choices: For those looking to unwind, Better Food Market boasts a solid selection of both craft beer and liquor, complementing the eclectic mix of grocery items available.
  • Convenient Accessibility: Open until 10 PM, this market caters to the night owls and offers street parking for added convenience — making it the go-to destination for a late-night run.

Elena N. and Kathleen R. sum it up perfectly; whether you are in need of a quick snack, a selection of affordable cigarettes, or unique confectionaries, Better Food Market covers a wide array of needs with a friendly atmosphere. Randall B. emphasizes its utility, dubbing it a local equivalent of a 7/11 that expertly caters to a variety of products required for everyday life.

However, don’t let the name fool you; while it's clearly diverse, several reviews indicate that produce might not be the focus here, with more emphasis on packaged goods. As Jimmy C. notes, be prepared to find plenty of drinks but less fresh produce. So, if your culinary desires lean more toward quick grabs rather than gourmet finds, this market is set to impress.

In conclusion, Better Food Market stands as a testament to the charm of neighborhood shopping. Its diverse offerings, convenient operation, and community-centric approach make it a beloved local fixture. If you find yourself in the area, don’t miss the chance to experience this vibrant market that truly embodies the spirit of San Francisco life.
